Someone who looks up to me recently wasn’t happy that I was pricing some of my services at 1K, 5K and 10K.

Someone who looks up to me recently wasn’t happy that I was pricing some of my services at 1K, 5K and 10K. He specifically said “I don’t think your mentors will price their services this low.” I appreciated his feedback and shared my take.
As a business, I understand the latitude of market shares. There are 3 markets in every domain:
1. Commodity Market (Mass Market): this is a game of numbers. This market does not need a lot of English. They just want something that is free or looks like free. Every time you see me share free or low ticket stuff, it’s because I have knowledge I can dispense that does not require a lot of effort from me. I test this weekly and make good cash that is for daily runnings. This is mainly where I put products on Selar for people to buy and download. It’s a no-brainer. Mass market, if done right (sometimes requires heavy advertising and promotions) will make you a lot of money.
2. Middle Class Market: this is the market that TESTS YOUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. This market is the MOST SUSPICIOUS of the 3. This is the market that makes me sell my monthly SOPE sessions. They are the people who need to experience you at no cost so that they can buy afterwards. That’s the FREEMIUM Model (designed for Middle Class in mind). With middle class, don’t focus on the money they’d pay you because it will frustrate you (they haggle price too much and want to drink your blood for the money they’d pay eventually get to pay, in numerous installments 🙄). Rather, focus on how they help you develop a top notch solution because of how difficult they tend to be. Middle class markets are for fine tuning services and products. Not necessarily for money making.
3. Elite, Upper Middle Class or Premium market: this is the maturity of your brand. This market is drawn to the polished version of you. The version that is not desperate to get paid and not inpatient to serve them. Premium does not pay you in piecemeal and they usually pay on their own terms. They also love to keep you within their own closed circles because they love to stay exclusive. You hardly market premium. They see through you and come to you. NOT MANY EVERY DAY BUYERS ARE PREMIUM. Most just claim to be. Many Nigerian wannabe Premium are actually aspiring middle class buyers. Their mind is not premium yet. Premium buyers are either high networth individuals or corporate buyers.
As a business or seller, I advise that you understand the cycle of revenue:
• DAILY REVENUE with ZERO OR MINIMAL EFFORTS: mass market items
• INTERMITTENT REVENUE with DIFFICULT EXECUTION: middle class market items
• SPARSE REVENUE WITH ALMOST NO WORK REQUIRED (except occasional intense actions that are infrequent): premium service items
So, while waiting for that big gig that pays 6-9 figures, discipline yourself to create tokens that bring the daily inflows.
Caveat: many Nigerians won’t allow their ego sell small stuff because “I’m too big to do this.” But if you check it, the world’s richest people sell commodities. From Dangote to Elon Musk to Warren Buffet, etc. The only market these guys may not have or pay attention to is “Middle Class”. All wealthy people do Mass Markets and Premium Markets. Get off your high horse and get that daily pay in.
The 30-Day Challenge I’m teaching from next Monday speaks to creating the Mass Market Strategy. There are 2 Strategy Tactics that make it possible. See you in the WhatsApp Group from next Monday.
