If you have been following trends on social media, you would have seen that Obi Cubana just launched his FIRST PROPRIETARY drink called ODOGWU BITTERS ALCOHOLIC DRINK. It already has BRODA SHAGGI, PORTABLE and MR JOLLOF and others as Brand Ambassadors.

Prior to now, Obi Cubana has been AN AFFILIATE MARKETER for exotic wines from Ireland and part of United Kingdom. He has leveraged on their machinery, infrastructure and funding to build a massive customer base and clout. He leveraged international partnerships to secure facility to build lounges and hotels where these exotic drinks were sold in massive volume at premium price. He cashed out big time with minimal brand building from scratch.

Now that he has built the base, he has started introducing his own proprietary products which will serve the same massive base and of course, sell out.

If you have been a good BSG CEO, you would remember the models: middle man (affiliate), demand aggregation, cut price, reverse auction, advertisement and higher price business models.

Back in 1978, Aliko Dangote received a small grant of $3,000 (3K USD in 1978 is not meager o). He invested this money in TRADING via middle man (affiliate) model. He imported finished powder of sugar, salt, flour or cement.. rebagged them and resold them in Nigeria. Leveraging the foreign brand names to build a massive base and national distribution system BEFORE he ever ventured into production at all.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO START PRODUCING. ALL YOU NEED IS TO START SELLING WHAT YOU WANT EVEN IF IT IS SOMEONE ELSE’S STUFF. The goal in any business is CUSTOMER BASE.

Customer Base = Community = Tribe = Membership = Ecosystem.
