I follow music; no, entertainment; fashion, media, reality platforms, etc. Maybe in another life, I won’t necessarily be in the knowledge economy per se. Perhaps I’ll be a mainstream gatekeeper in lifestyle businesses. And it’s never late still. 😁

There have been a couple of complaints about yesterday’s AMVCA outcomes. There were some very expectant nominees who didn’t win anything and some awards seem to have been given to less deserving winners. That is what many complaints have shown.

Personally, I had hopes sha. I hoped #Scar from #ShantyTown would be rewarded. I hoped Nse Etim in Shanty Town still would be awarded too. The biggest upset was the Best Female Artist that was given to Osas Ighodaro. I think majority did not see that coming. And also the Best Dressed Female.. Haba!!! A whole Tacha of N9.2 Million ($20,000) dress didn’t win?????? #Bulaba!!!!!!!!! Not even Mercy Eke???? Hehehehehehhee.

BUT YOU KNOW IT IS EASY TO CASTIGATE THESE AWARDS UNTIL YOU PLAN ONE YOURSELF.

Every year, since 2021 #BSGSummit, we have hosted Tim Ajala Resilience Awards (TARA) renamed from CEO Resilience Awards. The very first edition was 150K Cash Prize. 2022 was 500K Cash Prize. This year, the plan was to award 1 Entrepreneur with 1M. This ‘tiny’ award that gathers barely 200 Attendees and in a ceremony of a little less than 10M budget to execute, I know what I have gone through with accusations and backlashes. 😭 🙆‍♂️

Some have said:

1. I made it a family affair by naming the award after my Mentor’s late husband. Immortalizing him was the offense.
2. I ‘randomly’ pick 1 person to give a ‘huge amount’ in this economy instead of giving many people who can use it better. Meanwhile, there is a panel that decides the winner not me. I am not involved from start to finish who wins TARA.
3. I used their event payment to ‘dash’ someone money. Meanwhile, I personally fund this award from my pocket. I have never taken money from anyone to do so. This year, #BSGSummit2023 is even FREE for 80% of the attendees. That’s 8M GONE FOR FREE.

Etc.

The point I am making here is that: NO AWARD CAN BE FULLY FLAWLESS. NONE !!! And if e easy, organize your own make we see.

While I totally comprehend the need for constructive criticism, feedback and even anger where one feels ‘cheated’, I don’t agree with ‘tear down the platform because I didn’t win.’ We cannot throw away the Baby with the Bathwater. No one built a sustainable feat easily. So, please let’s keep working together to build a globally acceptable outcome. Everything can work together for good.
