BORN TO TEACH

Hi There,

Over the last 3 weeks, I taught a module titled “LEADING YOURSELF AND INFLUENCING OTHERS”. I had a combined audience of more than 150 people across 5 cohorts.

In today’s session, I went back memory lane how far I’ve come then it hit me…

I WAS BORN TO TEACH.

It comes to me easily to break things down, to guide, to enlighten, to encourage, to uplift and to hold someone’s hands towards an outcome. I am naturally wired to coach and teach.

In Primary School, I was on so many QUIZ SETS on and off TV. I was in many public places to speak on subjects children usually got enrolled to talk about. The most memorable being “ORT” at the multipurpose sports hall in Bauchi town with the late Mrs Maryam Babangida in attendance (God rest her beautiful soul)

In secondary school, especially the missionary school I attended, I led student church service many times. I was on so many Quiz sets that went on to win competitions in the city of Jos. I was in Press Club. I was in JETS Club. Speaking became more normal for me than anything tense.

I avoided any spotlight in the university. I probably went through those 5 years being in the shadows but the few times I attempted to do anything, the voice was clear.

On Camp for NYSC orientation, I was a Platoon Leader and I was the Corps Member who was selected to welcome the then DG, Brigadier General Walter Oki. That speech made me popular on camp and it was a breeze.

My NYSC year, I taught at Lagos City Computer College (LCCC) and I garnered a lot of experience in classroom teaching “PASCAL Programming”, “Database Management” and “Systems Analysis & Design”. My influence in the school attracted a bad experience with the Provost who felt I had too much “power” over the students unlike other Lecturers.

After NYSC, I hoped to gain employment in my university (ATBU) to be a Graduate Assistant. It flopped. And I returned back to Lagos.

I worked in a software company for a stint until I was fired. Then I got a job to teach 2 courses for ACCA Preps while at the same time working as “HelpDesk Support” for an IT Support company…

Before I got a job with then ValuCard where my confidence was horned. At ValuCard, now called Unified Payment Solutions Ltd (UP), I grew very strong competencies in presentations, strategy, team work, performance management, etc.

My best part always was: handling customers (Banks, Hotels, Merchants) issues from payment failures, presenting to Banks and POS Merchants about our products/services, etc. Our colleagues in Merchant Services always wanted me to join them to sell our solutions. I loved every single of those moments.

Then I resigned to be Self Employed.

Since I left my job in 2011, I have reinvented myself in so many ways and grown my skills in training, consulting, facilitating, and business.

The most interesting part is that, my love for lecturing that took me to seek Graduate Assistantship, has metamorphosed into being a multiple-time MBA lecturer for Woxsen University, India 🇮🇳 ; one time session for Conestoga College, Canada 🇨🇦; multiple sessions for African University of Science and Technology,(AUST) Abuja Nigeria 🇳🇬 and now, I am debuting my role as a Faculty Member of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

All these while completing my DBA programme with University of Business, Innovation and Sustainability (UBIS) Geneva Switzerland 🇨🇭 and USA 🇺🇸

The point of this very lengthy message is that: THAT WHICH YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IS ACHIEVABLE. Very much so… and this is the reason why I am inviting you to a FREE WEBINAR that I have titled: BORN TO TEACH.
