βIf you want to have a large farm of cats, first cultivate a large farm of carrots then create a one-way access for rats to enter the carrot farm without a way back out. Then grant access to the cats to feast on the rats for a fee. Thatβs how you get a large farm of cats.β
This message is not about Carrots, Rats or Cats. This message, rather, is about the 3 key elements of having a longterm sustainable community.
There is always a base element, or letβs call it ingredient, called the βcarrotβ. This is the raw material that attracts the attention and traffic of consumers. It is most effective when it is free or if it has a strong value proposition that outweighs its cost to access. The carrot is intended to draw traffic of rats. Those who cannot ignore carrots.
The Rat is the PRIZE. Among the 3 elements in this sequence, the rat is the most important catch. The rat is being pampered, cultivated, groomed, dressed and nurtured because they are the only determinant of wealth in a community setup. A Rat, in this framework is, HUMAN BEINGS who are very happy to binge on carrots and become so fond of it. The rats become quite excited about fresh carrots and its abundance. They are completely in love with carrots. They even get to invite other rats to come join the party. The carrot farm is large enough to accommodate all the rats and the rats they will invite to join them. Remember, the rats can enter the carrot farm but are not going to find it easy to leave; because AWOOF NO DEY RUN BELLE; or so they think.
The farmer then invites the cat to come and see the massive farmland that is buzzing with so much activity and energy. There are hundreds, thousands and more of rats jumping all over the place feasting on carrots. The farmer tells the cat βwhich size, colour, gender, or sample of rats do you want? Just pay me, and Iβd serve you to taste.β
The rat is the Prize. The cat is the beneficiary. The carrot is the meal.
THIS IS HOW A BRAND COMMUNITY WORKS.
You have to find the meal: a free course, a free gift, a need, a want, a bait, anything that attracts a consumer. That is your carrot.
Anyone who signs up to the carrot is your rat. Yes! Keep the carrot fresh and refreshed so that people keep enjoying your offerings and they even invite their loved ones or other stakeholders to come enjoy your offerings. THE PEOPLE WHO ENTER YOUR FUNNEL ARE YOUR PRIZE. They are the rats.
Then project your farm βrats eating carrotsβ to the market for wealth. This is where big brands sell/project consumer data for advertising money. This is where experts sell their services and products for a fee. This is where the funnel becomes the wealth creation tool. The rat is the prize because the Volume of Rats on the Farm is the Determining Factor of your Wealth.
