ACTIVATE YOUR “COVID-19” PLAN NOW.

Today, the Pump Price for PMS in Nigeria was jacked up by 176%; moving from N194 per litre to N537 per litre (Abuja is my reference).

Logically, the cost of literally every commodity will go up. From food to transportation to utilities, etc.

This post is for EMPLOYERS OF LABOUR IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.

Where possible, please consider the following alternatives (even if it is short term):

  1. Adopt remote work. Let your staff do more work from home than having to come to the office every day. This way, the pressure to raise salaries won’t be immediate. Help your staff convert the savings to more domestic utilities.
  2. Design an improved performance management system that helps you measure the quality and quantity of work your staff do. That way you won’t feel cheated.
  3. Adopt an online approach to serving your customers. Create channels to increase customer fulfillment for your customers while making provisions for minimized physical service fulfillment. You can even pick days of the week for physical service fulfillment and days of the week for online service fulfillment. Whatever you decide, do a good job of notifying your customers properly.

Caveat: this strategy may not work for every business so please read this, think on it, adapt if applicable and discard if not applicable. Just don’t ignore it because MORE COSTS ARE COMING !!!
