When we teach our Life Coaching course, we usually say there are 4 PRE-CONDITIONS a Coach must satisfy before he or she allows a customer pay for coaching. One of the pre-conditions is: AM I THE RIGHT COACH FOR THIS CLIENT? And this question checks whether I am at the same level to serve this client. The levels include:

  • Intellectual
  • Social
  • Mental
  • Values
  • Personality &
  • Financial

You may have the expertise a Client wants but the client may not have the capacity to hire you as their own expert.

A client may have the capacity to hire you but may not match your ideal preferences.

The sweet spot (I learnt this term from Collins Nwosu: it means when what I expect is equal to what you can deliver. He said it’s a term from Lawn Tennis 🎾 which means when the racket hits the ball at the point that makes the ball most powerfully served. You’re welcome. 😉); so THE SWEET SPOT is when clients are BEGGING TO PAY for your service or product and you’re telling them ‘No’ or ‘Wait’ or ‘Not good enough’. It is quite a delight when customers appeal to withhold a spot in your list until they can pay.
