THE 3 DIRECTIONS OF BUSINESS.

I got an epiphany this afternoon that is not necessarily new but may mean a lot to you.

Business has 3 directions:

1.⁠ ⁠DOWN : this is time-bound. This is the process of DEEPENING one’s industry knowledge, base and experience. The longer a person stays in a business or on a job, they know A LOT about the workings of that business and hence can be relied on to get things done. BUT THIS IS THE LEAST POWERFUL DIRECTION. It is only TIME ADVANTAGE TO EXPERIENCE.

2.⁠ ⁠UP : globally, strong credentials guarantee strong networks, larger access and heavy portfolios. It is a global standard. The UP direction of business is that people in the business must constantly build capacity beyond just technical expertise. People in business should earn certifications, acquire relevant further degrees and expand their world view through constant learning. Technology with Artificial Intelligence is definitely becoming an operating model and any business model that does not infuse these in their strategies may face severe limitations in the growing complexities of the globe. CREDENTIAL-UP THE LADDER. It is the 2nd MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR in business; the 1st being the SIDE (HORIZONTAL DIRECTION).

3.⁠ ⁠SIDE (HORIZONTAL) : we teach that EQ IS 85% THE DETERMINANT OF YOUR SUCCESS IN LIFE THAN IQ. EQ is EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and it is akin to RELATIONAL COMPETENCE. It is the SKILL of MEETING PEOPLE, MAKING PEOPLE FEEL INVINCIBLE and LEVERAGING PEOPLE FOR YOUR OWN INVINCIBILITY. No matter how brilliant you are and how competent you are on your job and in business, IT IS PEOPLE WHO WILL OPEN DOORS FOR YOU. This is the MOST POWERFUL DIRECTION among the 3.

Experience is very good. Very good.
