There are days when liquidity is thin and the numbers in your account don’t look impressive. I’ve had a few of those days recently. The temptation to liquidate some of my holdings was real. Yet in the middle of that moment, I still found myself buying more; even adding shares of Nestlé Nigeria to my portfolio. That may sound contradictory, but long-term wealth often requires a kind of discipline that feels uncomfortable in the short term. Wealth building is not always about how much cash you have today; it is about the systems and convictions you keep building regardless of the moment.
I have come to accept that being temporarily broke is not the same thing as being poor. Illiquidity happens. Sometimes your capital is working in places that cannot immediately return to your pocket. Sometimes you are investing ahead of your current comfort. But that is part of the cycle. One moment you feel stretched, the next moment a deal closes, a client pays, a new opportunity appears and suddenly the tide turns. Life and money both move in rhythms.
What I try to stay committed to is being revenue-centric. When the numbers feel tight, my first instinct is not panic; it is expansion. How do I solve more problems? How do I create more value? How do I increase my capacity so that more money can flow through the systems I have built? Optimism, resilience, and an almost stubborn hunger to create solutions have carried me through many seasons.
So when you see me investing while navigating moments of tight liquidity, understand that it is not recklessness; it is perspective. I know the cycle. There will be days of constraint and days of abundance. My responsibility is to remain disciplined, keep building capacity, keep solving meaningful problems, and stay positioned for the moments when the tide rises again.
