I used to work in a company where the people heading HR were the MD’s toys (or tools). It was frustrating. You could resume the morning after and be told that a policy has changed because the MD felt this or that. Or that someone acted in a particular way and a policy paragraph was changed impromptu. A business that was over 100 staff but still operated like a one-man hustle.
My birthdays give me a few moments to reflect on what I have done right and what I tried that did not work… this week is such a moment … as I appreciate how God has helped me in the past 1 year.
In the just-concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympics, many watched as athletes represented their countries and competed for the medals. As interesting as it was to watch, these athletes put years, months, days, and hours of practice into their sport. This is because they must compete with the best of the best worldwide; they cannot afford to be ill-prepared.
Personally, when I see quotes like “A SALARY is the BRIBE they pay you to FORGET your DREAMS”, I believe it is a VERY IGNORANT perspective. Very!
Your choice of employees can determine whether your business would be successful or if it would crash. As a result, many founders and business owners are often faced with the challenge of finding the right talent for their business. Beyond that, they are also faced with the challenge of retaining these talents.
Honestly, if certificates and credentials weren’t a part of strategic inclusion, I WILL NEVER BE A PROPONENT OF FORMAL SCHOOLING. The thing dey tire me abeg (it tires me). But it is what it is.
My daughter’s teacher sent me a message during the Sallah break to report that my girl left some of her books in school. My first impulse was anger ‘why would she do that?’ Then in the same breathe, I recollected my chat with a friend who told me ‘your daughter likes to read sha. She even reads your own library. How does she do it?’ Irony!!! How do you explain that a child LOVES MY LIBRARY but forgets her ACADEMIC LITERATURE in school? One other reason why I couldn’t stay angry with my daughter is that I WAS JUST THE SAME WHEN I WAS HER AGE.

When Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook, if you had joined at the beginning in 2004-2007, it was super boring. I recall using so many hours to upload the list of my favorite books that I have read (Facebook helped you keep an e-library), family tree, favorite music and favorite movies, etc
The cost of hiring and replacing persons who do your work from outside is so enormous and inconvenient. Have you ever considered this at all?

My hair grows weekly so I visit the barber shop weekly. Because of my characteristic laziness though, it sometimes takes a fortnight and by then, my head already itches and makes me feel uncomfortable. So I must do the visit latest 10 days apart.
