In 2015 a ‘big girl’ in a StanbicIBTC Bank Lagos wanted to hire me as her coach. She had made concerted efforts to get my attention but because I am based in Abuja, we really did not get a convenient arrangement. At some point, I visited Lagos. As at that time, I had not met Stella (our now COO) and Tunde (our last Director of Programmes).

This morning, SOBCA’s Deputy Faculty Director, Shittu Sulaimon, told me “Coach, it is definitely not easy running a business. How do you guys cope?” 🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

For some, they would rather build their personal name because to build a company is a lot of work. To some, both should grow in parallel.

We have been raised feeling that our emotions are ‘exaggerated’ or ‘not good for us’. As children and teenagers, how we felt was not acknowledged. Parents felt our emotions were disrespectful. So we also grew up feeling ‘what have feelings got to do with the issue on ground?’

I became an entrepreneur because I loved to have more time for myself to do what I wanted when and how I wanted it. So it looked like I started out choosing to be an entrepreneur. But it’s been 10…
