STRATEGIES FOR ATTRACTING MORE STUDENTS & STRENGTHENING INSTITUTIONAL BRANDING

What makes a College of Education the institution of choice for students, parents, industry and strategic partners?

What makes a College of Education the institution of choice for students, parents, industry and strategic partners?

It goes beyond admissions campaigns.

It requires a deliberate VALUE STACK: institutional relevance, academic excellence, industry connection, global exposure, exceptional people and a compelling student experience.

In my strategic session with over 100 Provosts of Colleges of Education this morning, I shared five critical imperatives:

1. VERY CLEAR NICHE

Every institution must answer: What do we want to be known for? A strong institutional brand begins with clarity of positioning.

2. STRONG INDUSTRY PRODUCTION SYSTEM

Colleges must move beyond producing graduates to deliberately producing industry ready professionals through stronger employer relationships, practical learning, innovation and relevant skills development.

3. PROMISING INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE

Global exposure expands institutional value. Strategic partnerships, exchange opportunities and international collaboration can give students perspectives and opportunities beyond their immediate environment.

4. FORMIDABLE ACADEMIC & NON ACADEMIC STAFF

Institutional transformation requires people who can deliver it. Staff must be continuously trained, equipped and challenged to achieve optimal professional and educational impact.

5. HEALTHY COLLEGE CAMPUS LIFE

Students should not merely attend a college. They should belong to it.

A healthy campus culture creates identity, community, confidence, leadership and a deep belief in the institution.

These are not merely talking points. They are strategic levers for building institutions that students will choose, experience, remember and recommend.

I am particularly honoured that these conversations will continue at an upcoming National Retreat for all Provosts and Chief Executives of Colleges of Education in Nigeria, where these issues will be explored in greater detail through focused strategy sessions.

My session at the retreat will be:

OPERATION VALUE STACKING

A strategic conversation on how institutions can deliberately stack and communicate value to strengthen institutional attractiveness, student acquisition, stakeholder confidence and long term relevance.

The Zoom session was convened by the Executive Secretary of NCCE, Mrs Angela Ajala, PhD, FNAE alongside her Directors, and attended by over 100 Provosts. I am grateful for the opportunity to be invited.

The engagement demonstrated a strong appetite for strategic conversations that move beyond theory into institutional results.

I look forward to taking this conversation deeper at the national retreat, keeping one question in mind:

How do we convert strategy into an operating model that produces value?

That is the work I do.
